The
Priest King:
(SP002A)
Acrylic on Indian slate.
The artwork is based on one of the statuettes found in Mohen-jo-daro and Harappa - two ancient cities of Indus Valley Civilization, which existed during 2500 BC. Located in the Western part of India (now lies in Pakistan), the expertly constructed cities were a part of an advanced civilization that are recognized as the roots of Indian culture. The crack in the slate was intentional to match that in the real statuette.
